Lal Kantha backs posters-oriented election campaign

National Trade Union Centre (NTUC) Chairman K.D. Lal Kantha requested the Urban Councils and the Pradeshiya Sabhas to increase the number of places allocated for candidates to paste posters, banners and cut-outs during the upcoming election season.

The NTUC Chairman made this request addressing the Working People’s Assembly organised by the National Trade Union Center (NTUC) at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo in support of Anura Kumara Dissanayake yesterday.

Despite the presidential nominee of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna had pledged to carry out an environment-friendly election campaign, Lal Kantha told the members of the Jathika Jana Balawegaya (National People’s Power) supporting Anura Kumara Dissanayake to go ahead with posters and other similar media claiming that they have no backing by any television channel of the country.

“Posters, banners and cut-outs are the media we have to use to carry out our election campaign as no television channel is backing us. We must engage in our election campaign using a method that is familiar to us,” he said.

None of the media is powerful than posters, cut-outs and posters, Lal Kantha said.
