Karuwalagaswewa Pradeshiya Sabha member Ekanayake Mudiyanselage Dimantha Vimukthi Ekanayake was arrested by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) while in possession of heroin at around 11.20 am yesterday.
According to Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara, PNB officials had seized 700 mg of heroin in the possession of Ekanayake at the Thonigala junction on the Anamaduwa-Puttalam road. He had been travelling in a three wheeler at the time of arrest and the PNB officers had arrested him and handed the suspect over to the Anamaduwa police.
“The suspect was produced before the Anamaduwa Magistrate’s Court yesterday (12) and ordered to be remanded until August 22,” the Police Media Spokesperson said. Anamaduwa Police are investigating.
