A total number of 9399 motorists have been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol from July 5 to August 19 the police media said.
A special island-wide operation was commenced from July 5, in order to apprehend drunk drivers.
Accordingly 217 drunk drivers were arrested from August 18, 6.00am to August 19, 6.00am.
