Three suspects have been arrested in connection with a clash between police and suspected ‘Awa’ gang members in Jaffna.
Two suspects were apprehended by the Kopay police at around 3.30 pm yesterday while the other suspect was arrested after he surrendered to the Manipai Police at around 6.00 pm last evening.
The suspects were identified as residents of Manipai area in Jaffna aged 18-20.
On July 20th, A man was killed when police opened fire on being attacked by sword-wielding, suspected ‘Ava’ gang members in Jaffna on Saturday night.
The three suspects will be produced before the Mallakam Magistrate’s Court today.
The Manipai police are conducting further investigation.
