Sri Lanka to buy cranes for East Container Terminal for the Development of Colombo South Port

In terms of the approval granted by the Cabinet, a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) has been signed by Sri Lanka, India and Japan to extend Cooperation for the development of the East Container Terminal of the Colombo South Port. Purchasing and installation of 06 ship cranes and 18 Electric Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes is necessary for the operation of the East Container Terminal. As such, the proposal made by the Minister of Ports & Shipping and Southern Development, to purchase the said container handling equipment in accordance with the provisions made in the Memorandum of Cooperation, was approved by the Cabinet.
