MEPA launches operation to save “Sri Lanka Glory”

A cargo vessel named ‘Sri Lankan Glory’ had washed ashore and met with an accident in Rumassala, Galle yesterday evening after its anchor broke due to strong winds. The officers at the harbour said the vessel had hit rocks near ‘Peace Pagoda’. And it is reported that the ship is currently carrying a total of 15 tonnes of oil.

The Marine Environment Protection Authority have already taken necessary steps to remove the vessel before any damages to the vessels could result in a major oil spill
