Lion of Sri Lanka declared a Global New Voices Winner by Lions Clubs International

The New Voices Initiative was launched in 2018/2019 year by the first female President of Lions Clubs International, Lion Gudrun Yngvadottir of Iceland. The initiative celebrates and promotes women’s contributions to Lions Clubs International, and raises awareness of recruitment and leadership opportunities. It also promotes gender parity by focusing on increasing the number of women in Lions Clubs, as well as closing the gap between men and women in leadership positions. Hundreds of women from around the world were identified for their exceptional dedication as New Voices nominees in the categories of membership growth, leadership, service and marketing. Approximately 32 semifinalists were identified from more than 1,300 nominees and in February, Lions Clubs International announced the 4 finalists, one from each category. Bringing honour to Sri Lanka, Shyana Jayalath, a member of Lions Club of Colombo (Host) of Lions District 306 A1, was chosen as the Global Finalist in the marketing category of the New Voices programme of Lions Clubs International. Lion Shyana Jayalath was honoured with a Presidential Medal by Lions Clubs International President 2018/2019 Lion Gudrun Yngvadottir for being the New Voices global winner in marketing at the 102nd Lions Convention in Milan held on 7th July 2019.
