Examinations Department sources said that 337, 704 candidates will sit for the G.C.E Advanced Level Examination to be held from August 5 to August 31. The exam will be conducted at 2678 examination centres island-wide.
Of the total number of candidates, 244,146 candidates are sitting for the examinations under the old syllabus while 198,229 candidates are sitting for the examinations under the new syllabus.
Meanwhile, The Grade 5 Scholarship Examination which will commence at 9.30 a.m. on August 4 at 2,995 examination centers countrywide will have 339,369 candidates sitting the exam.
Of the total number of candidates 255,529 candidates are sitting for the examinations in Sinhala medium, while 83,840 candidates are sitting for the examinations in Tamil medium.
