Case against Mahanama and Piyadasa fixed for trial

The case filed against President’s former Chief of Staff Kusumdasa Mahanama and former State Timber Corporation (STC) Chairman P. Dissanayaka was today fixed for trial on September 9 by Permanent High Court trial-at-Bar.

This is for allegedly soliciting a bribe of Rs. 540 million accepting another Rs. 20 million from an Indian investor who wants to acquire a section of the Kantale sugar factory.
 
Trial-at-Bar bench comprising High Court Judges Sampath Abeykoon (President), Sampath Wijeratne and Champa Janaki Rajaratne issued summons on the Indian businessman, the key witness in the case to appear in Court on next trial date.
