Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne by issuing a special gazette said that the prices of 60 essential drugs has increased by 14.4%.
Further he said the decision was taken due to a request made by a number of companies owing to the depreciation of the rupee against the US dollar.
Accordingly, prices have increased for Albendazole, Amoxicillin, Paracetamol and Cefuroxime.
All these drugs were decreased previously under a price control.
