Court allows to detain Port Authority employee for 30 days

An employee of the Port Authority, who was arrested for possession of compact discs containing Islamic extremist ideology, was ordered to be detained and questioned for a period of 30 days by Colombo Additional Magistrate Lochana Abewickrama.

The suspect was identified as Mohomed Nuuman Mohomed Nasran.

Harbour Police informed the court that they had seized mobile phones, fax machine, three ISIS photographs, and laptops during the arrest.

The Police also stated that they were found Rs.500, 000 of returned cheque and Rs.1,000,000 cheque in possession of him.

The Magistrate fixed further inquiries for June 03.
