11,000 million will be allocated to develop the Kandy town

Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said that a sum of Rs.11,000 million will be allocated to develop the Kandy town. He was taking part in the opening of George E. De Silva park in Kandy.

We declared open the George E.De Silva park which costed rupees 173 million to the public. In the future we are going to have a central bus stop and a railway station at Kandy Goodshed Premises.Rupees 182 million were allocated to the construction of the bus stop. We have also provided rupees 156 million to the municipal council to provide the irrigation department with necessary equipments.

842 residents who have been affected by this development process will be provided with compensation.

The world Bank is providing rupees 11,000 million to construct a vehicle parking in order to develop the Kandy town .Rupees 1,500 million allocated to provide shelter for the railway workers and provide them with necessary facilities. All these things are done to ease the traffic congestion in kandy. The only solution to reduce the traffic congestion is to strengthen the public transport.

Enterprise Sri Lanka will provide  loans for all the bus owners with 3%interest upto ten million.

Under the sahasara program ,Kandy will be given 2500 buses with GPS facility, the minister said .
