S. Thomas’ past students cycle to support women

The past students of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, in support of the Batticaloa Women in Need organisation, held a cycle journey from Mount Lavinia to Batticaloa through Puttalam, Anuradhapura and Giritale, recently.

The journey commenced last Thursday and reached Batticaloa on Saturday. They were welcomed near the Batticaloa Post Office by the President of the Women in Need Chandra Thiagaraja and Coordinator Sangeetha Tharmanathan.

A notable participant in the cycle journey was Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa, a past student of S. Thomas’ College.

The cyclists were honoured with a reception at William Ault Hall where Sri Lanka Human Rights Organisation’s Batticaloa District Coordinator A. M. Azeez was present.

The Women in Need organisation campaigns against domestic violence, violence and discrimination against women.
