Ratnapura district MP Ranjith Soysa said the Opposition is ready to face an election at any time and discussions have begun to form a broader alliance with the SLFP.
“We want to have a broader alliance to defeat the UNP at the very first opportunity,” he said.He said the country needs a patriotic alliance against the UNP policies of selling government assets for a song.“UNPers who are against these policies can join with us at any time,” he said.
Soysa said the alliance to be formed should be free from corrupt elements.” Those who were accused of the Central Bank bond scam should not be given membership of this alliance”, he stressed.
He said that the people in the country will lose confidence in the alliance, if any person who received benefits from the Central Bank bond issue is given membership of this alliance.
“We should strive for a country where the rule of law and discipline reign”, he said
Kandy district MP Dilum Amunugama and Kegalle district MP Tharaka Balasuriya also spoke.
