Seventeen suspects arrested with narcotics at a hotel in Polhena, Matara, on Sunday, have been remanded till March 8.
The suspects were produced in the Matara Magistrate’s Court yesterday by the police.
The 17 suspects included three women. The youngest suspect is said to be a student of a leading school in Matara, and the oldest is 27 years of age.
They had come to know each other through the popular social media website Facebook, police said. According to police, a young teledrama actress too is among the suspects.
Police said the 17 suspects were arrested in the raid and all of them were staying at the same hotel. The suspects are alleged to have had in their possession, cocaine and several other banned narcotics.
