A suspect who had made an attempt to grab 5 million rupees from a customer in the premises of state bank in Kurunegala , was arrested by the Kurunegala Police yesterday morning.
According to the police media, the suspect had grabbed a briefcase belongs to a customer, who was on his way to another private bank to deposit five million which he had obtain from the said state bank after cashing a cheque .
However it was further reported that the customer had fought with suspect and managed to get hold of his brief case which inclusive of large sum of money. However the suspect was captured by police after they were informed about the incident by the residents of the area.
A hand grenade, which was under the possession of the suspect, also has being taken under the custody of police by the officers attached to the Kurunegala Police Station.
The suspect was identified as 43-year-old, a permanent resident in Thulhiriya area.
He is to be produced before the Magistrate Courts of Kurunegala today by police.
Further more police investigations are being conducted.
