Sarana’s corruption cases to be heard on March 8

Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayarathne yesterday fixed three corruption cases filed against former Deputy Minister Sarana Gunawardena for March 8.

Gunawardena is alleged to have secured public funds when obtaining vehicles on rent for the National Lotteries Board, while he was serving as the Chairman of the Board. The counsel appearing for Sarana Gunawardena informed court that his client was not appearing before court due to a health issue.

The Bribery Commission alleged that the accused had committed the offences between 2006 and 2007, while he was National Lotteries Board Chairman.
