The case filed against Gampaha District Parliamentarian Prasanna Ranatungaand his wife was today fixed for further trial on March 25 by Colombo High Court.
When the case came up before High Court Judge Manjula Tillekaratne, the court concluded recording evidence from Retired Major Wimal Fernando, a prosecution witness in the alleged extortion case. The witness revealed that he had served as the General Manager of Silicon Technologies (Pvt ) Ltd, a company belonging to Businessman Gehard Mendis who is the virtual complainant in the case.
The Attorney General had filed indictments against former Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna Ranatunge, his wife Maureen Ranatunge and another person on the charge of threatening a businessman demanding the rest of money out of Rs.64 million.
