VNF camp begins in Welisara

In parallel with the 67th anniversary of the Sri Lanka Volunteer Naval Force (VNF), an annual camp of volunteer naval personnel was commenced at the SLNS Lanka in Welisara on January 4. The Commander Western Naval Area and Commandant VNF, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna was the chief guest.

The inaugural speech of the annual camp was delivered by the Commandant VNF, Rear Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenna.

Senior Naval Officers including the Commanding Officer VNF, Captain Tony Perera, senior and junior sailors were present on the occasion.

The first lecture of the camp was conducted on ‘The role and responsibility of the Navy’ by Director Naval Operations Commodore Sanjeewa Dias. The annual camp will continue till January 19.
