Twelve line rooms of a tea estate in Bogawanthalwa were reduced to ashes in a major fire that erupted yesterday.
According to Bogawanthalawa Police sources, 66 persons belonging to 12 families were displaced following the fire and they have been given temporary accommodation at the cultural hall of the estate.
Bogawanthalawa Police together with residents and fire fighters of the Hatton – Dickoya Urban Council helped doused the fire.
The damage caused by the fire is yet to be assessed.
