Embilipitiya Additional Magistrate R.P.N. Rankothge yesterday ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to arrest other Police officers in connection with the death of Sumith Prasanna Jayawardena in Embilipitiya, during a party at latter’s house in 2016.
Jayawardena was killed after a fall from a three-storey building following an alleged confrontation with the Police. His family has maintained that then Embilipitiya ASP D.W.Dharmaratne had allegedly pushed him off the building.
Jayawardena succumbed to his injuries at the Ratnapura General three days after the incident. The suspect ASP appeared in court yesterday.
