Cash reward for A/L Arts Polonnaruwa district first ranker

President Maithripala Sirisena handed over cash prize of  one million this morning at the Presidential Secretariat, for the education of Akila Ishani Wijeratne, who became the first in the Polonnaruwa district for the GCE Advanced Level examination in the Arts stream of the GCE Advanced Level Examination held last year.

Principal of the Medirigiriya National School Ruwan Kumara, and father  H.R. Wijeratne and Mrs. Kumudini Pushpalatha, mother also participated at this occasion.

Meanwhile, the President handed over a cash prize of Rs. Seven lakhs at the Presidential Secretariat this morning to Hashini Vasana Sewwandi of Polonnaruwa Royal College, 9th grade student, for her future education and artistic activities.

The President had also provided a new house for the family at a request of the said student at a cost of Rs. 4.5 million. The father of the student, Sumith Rohana and mother Priyangika Kumari too were present.
