Tracified Bagged A Scholarship from Founder Institute at Oslo Innovation Week 2018

At the recently held Oslo Innovation Week 2018, Tracified emerged as the winner of the Best Oslo Sustainability Startup Pitch. The pitch made amidst numerous other global startups saw Tracifed win a Scholarship from the Founder Institute.

So, what exactly is Tracified?

The purpose behind Tracified is simple. Their primary field of operation is dealing with the food industry. They’ve identified that consumers face a challenge of identifying trusted suppliers and vice versa. By making use of the Cloud, Tracified has developed a platform that integrates with any Internet of things (IoT) device. This platform verifies supply chain data through blockchain. This verification is a key element to establishing trust, both between the supplier and the consumer.

We initially saw Tracified being incubated by StartupX Foundry in 2017. From there, we also saw them at Disrupt Asia 2017 and at the Startup Pavilion that was part of Infotel 2017. From there, the team has clearly been hard at work.

They took part in the National Best Quality ICT Awards (NBQSA) 2017 and won Gold in the e-Logistics and Supply Chain Management Category. Representing Sri Lanka at the Oslo Innovation Summit this year, the startup made the trip to Norway to pitch its product to Scandinavian investors and scored a double victory.

Going for the Gold

The team made an impression with the judging panel during their session on ‘Reciprocity for Sustainable Cities’. This was a 45-second pitch where Uthpalie Thilakaratna – eCommerce Consultant at Tracified emphasized on the United Nations Sustainability Goals that they are working towards. Their hard work paid off as Tracified managed to win a Founder Institute Scholarship for the Best Oslo Sustainability Startup Pitch.

“It was incredible to win such a great opportunity and to have our startup be recognized for the positive impact we’re trying to make in food supply chain transparency, to encourage responsible production and consumption,” Uthpalie added.

“Traceability needs to be lifted from its traditional form of internal record keeping into reciprocal value communication to establish it as a core component of Industry 4.0. Blockchain’s role in achieving this is instrumental. Our success in delivering this will depend on how diligent we are in tailoring a technology which was originally made for financial transactions to one that enables an authentic exchange of value chain data. This recognition shows that we are on right track,” stated Tracified Head of Development Dileepa Jayathilake.

The journey of Tracified is just beginning

The scholarship from Founder Institute at the Oslo Innovation Week marks the first international recognition since Tracified began their journey one and a half years ago. We from ReadMe extend our heartiest congratulations to the team at Tracified and wish them all the best in their future work.
