Sinhala learning promoted in Ampara, Batticaloa

A certificate-awarding ceremony organised by the Sinhala Second Language Promotion Programme, was held at the Karatheevu Sanmuga Vidyalaya, recently.

The National Institute of Language Education and Training (NILET), together with the National Languages and Social Integration Ministry, conducted a 12-day Sinhala Second Language Promotion Programme for the benefit of government department employees in the Ampara and Batticaloa districts. The ceremony was presided by the Principal attached to the Navithanveli Divisional Education Office and Coordinator of the Sinhala Second Language Promotion Programme M. A. R. M. Musthafa.

Ampara Additional District Secretary K. Vimalanathan handed over certificates to the participants. About 102 government officers received certificates for completing their Sinhala Language Training Course. Resource persons were also honoured with mementos.

Ampara District Secretariat National Reconciliation Development Assistant F. Pragatheeskaran, resource persons from the National Institute of Language Education and Training (NILET) N. M. M. Fuwad, R. Sriskandarajah, A. M. M. Mujeeb and A. L. Saheela participated.
