Two hotel owners who ran unhygienic hotels without legal permits and served food unsuitable for consumption were fined Rs. 30,000 by Wariyapola Magistrate Dharshana Silva on Monday.
The offenders are from Wariyapola.

Meanwhile, about 14 suspects who possessed and sold illegal liquor were fined Rs. 71,000 by Wariyapola Magistrate Dharshan Silva as all of them pleaded guilty.
Many rural students are addicted to liquor as a result of the illicit liquor manufacturers, the North Western Province Assistant Excise Commissioner Roy Fernando said, while he prosecuted the case. The suspects were taken into custody by the officials of the Excise Department of Kurunegala.
