Namal urges probe on Fonseka’s statement

Anti Corruption Movement Operations (ACMO) Director Namal Kumara yesterday demanded a formal investigation into the statement made by former Minister Sarath Fonseka at Temple Trees with regard to the alleged plot to kill President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.

He was addressing a press conference in Colombo.

Former Minister Sarath Fonseka alleges that the President’s faction is going to take a statement from underworld gangster Makandure Madush citing that he (MP Sarath Fonseka) is involved in the alleged plot by paying Rs. 300 million to Madush.

“I urged the authorities concerned to direct the CID to conduct full scale investigation into the Fonseka’s allegation,” he said Namal Kumara added that he is ashamed of Sarath Fonseka for making this type of allegations as a former commander of the Sri Lanka Army. “He is totally misfit to the post of Field Marshal,” he said.
