One person died and two others were severely injured due to shots fired by the security officer of former Petroleum Minister Arjuna Ranatunge at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) last evening. The incident took place when the former minster entered the CPC head office in Dematagoda with his security officers. A tense situation erupted when the shooting had taken place, Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
The security officer who had opened fire was arrested by the police.R.E.A. Rajapaksa succumbed to his injuries at the National Hospital.
Dematagoda police are investigating the incident.
