Three persons including a father and his two sons died following an accident on the Sandunpura Lihiniyagama road in the Dehiattakandiya police division around 5 p.m yesterday.
The motorcycle on which they were travelling had collided with a tipper coming in the opposite direction from the Sandunpura area towards Lihiniyagama.
There had been five people of the same family on the motorcycle. All five including the mother and another boy were injured and admitted to the Dehiattakandiya hospital. Of them the father and two sons, who were in critical condition, succumbed to their injuries.
The mother and the other son have been transferred to Polonnaruwa hospital for further treatment.
The victims were R.M. Namal Priyantha (35), R.M. Kavindu (14) and R.M. Pasindu (10).
