Begging in trains is prohibited and beggars will be nabbed and dealt with severely, according to existing rules and regulations, Railways Additional General Manager Vijaya Samarasinha said.
He said that a period of one month has been allowed to beggars to stop this practice.
He said that the security officers of the Sri Lanka Railways have been instructed to take those who beg in trains into custody. He said that there are pickpockets also among those who beg in trains.
