NHSL Cardiology unit closed for renovation

The Cardiology unit of the national hospital of Sri Lanka (Colombo General Hospital) will be closed from Friday, December 1), NHSL Director General Dr.Anil Jasinghe said.

According to Dr. Jasinghe, the cardiology Unit will be closed for renovation activities and the all heart patients in the waiting list for heart surgeries will be diverted to Kandy, Karapitiya and Sri Jayawardenepura hospital. The patients will not be required to wait until the unit re-opens.

The renovation activities will be completed by December 15 and the functions of the unit will commence once the renovation is completed. Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne has already taken steps to speed up repairs, he said.

There was a delay in commencing renovation activities by the company which undertook the contract, he added.
