Senior media person Upali Bandara Weerasekera has been appointed as an All-Island Justice of Peace, by the Ministry of Justice, with effect from November 1, 2017.
Weerasekera has contributed towards the betterment of the society for over 30 years as a journalist, lyricist, script writer, actor, and an author.

He has served various newspaper institutions, as well as radio stations in the capacity of a senior manager.
Being a dedicated social worker, Weerasekera is always keen on using his pen to make aware the authorities of the grievances of not-well-to-do people in society.
