Three women had been arrested for allegedly being common prostitutes, along with 2 men allegedly in the trade of prostitution.
The Police had raided two places in Mahiyanganaya on Tuesday (10) evening and arrested 2 women from Awissawella and Dehiaththakandiya, on charges of prostitution, along with a man who had employed them, a source said. The Police party conducted the raids with the permission of the Mahiyanganaya Magistrate Court and arrested a woman from Rajagiriya, allegedly in the prostitution trade, the source added.
‘The women in question were under 30 years. The men had been running the 2 places on the pretext of running guest houses.’ They were to be produced before the Mahiyanganaya Court.
