Homagama Hospital doctors save man’s life

A man who had a metal rod go through his lower jaw had it successfully removed by surgeons at the Homagama Hospital, Homagama Hospital specialist surgeon, Dr.Dhammika Wickramasekara said.

The victim had been trying to get down from an upper floor of a building under construction when his foot slipped and he fell onto a metal road.

The neighbours had then cut the metal rod from the concrete base and taken him to the Homagama hospital.

The doctors were successful in saving the man’s life after an operation which had lasted close to one and a half hours.

The medical team was led by Dr. Wickremasekara with the assistance of Dr.Chanaka Rajapaksa, Dr.Kavinda Nagodawithana, senior medical officer Nirvindana, Dr.Imalka, Dr.Buddhi and nurses Dilini and Anusha.

Dr.Wickramasekara said the patient was recovery well at the ICU.
