Two individuals were arrested by Kalawana police along with counterfeit currency notes yesterday. The currency notes included 18 Rs.5,000 and two Rs. 2,000 notes.
The arrested, a male and female, age 43 and 46, had produced a fake Rs. 5,000 note to a shop at Udakarawita, Nivitigalla. The shop owner informed about the note to Nivithigala police.
Nivithigala police informed about the suspects who were moving towards the Kalawana area to Kalawana police. they stopped the vehicle in the Kalawana town and conducted a search. The two suspects, currency notes and the van were taken into custody. The suspects are residents of Dehiwala. They were produced before the Ratnapura Magistrate yesterday. Kalawana police are investigating.
