Raids against illicit drug and liquor in Matara were itensified, sources from the Matara Excise Station said.
Nearly three million rupees accrued as court fines on persons caught through raids during the last seven months, the sources said.
About 380 suspects were convicted during the period, the sources said. The raids were carried out at Kanake, Denipitiya, Weligama, Midigama, Akuressa, Malimbada, Tellijawila, Kamburupitiya, Dickwelle, and Hakmana.
They were charged with producing illicit liquor, selling liquor without permits, running illicit distilleries, selling foreign cigarettes, ganja and other dangerous drugs, the sources said.
