The Elections Commission is to commemorate “Word Democracy Day today (15) by conducting countrywide public awareness programmes on democracy and universal adult franchise.
The programmes conducted by District Elections Officers on the theme “Democracy is expressed through vote, let us protect universal adult franchise,” will include, awareness programmes, exhibition of posters and banners, street dramas, lectures and walks, Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya said.
