Welcome rains in catchment areas

Welcome rains were experienced in the catchment areas of Maussakelle and Castlereagh reservoirs in the hill country on Wednesday afternoon. However, the water levels of Maussakelle and Castlereagh stood at 31 feet and 39 feet below spill level. Here the Maussakelle reservoir in which the ruins of the old Maskeliya town, including the Shri Kathiresan Hindu Kovil which had re-emerged due to the low water level.
