An incident where a husband set his wife on fire was reported from Kantale yesterday.
The victim is a resident of Thalabhagamuwa, Mollipathana.
Police said the husband burnt the woman on suspicion that she was having an illicit lover affair.
The victim, a mother of five who sustained severe burn injuries was admitted to the Kantale Base Hospital.
Hospital sources said the women was in a critical condition.
Her husband,(63) who was arrested by the police was to be produced before the magistrate yesterday. Tambuttegama Police are investigating.
