Negombo Magistrate Ruchira Weliwatta yesterday granted bail for 25 persons including two provincial councilors who were arrested for unlawful assembly.
UPFA Western Provincial Council members Lalantha Gunasekara and Ananda Harishchandra were among the three wheeler and bus drivers arrested for engaging in a protest at Galkanda railway station, disregarding the court order not to carry out the protest.
The protest was launched against the government’s decision to increase the fine for traffic offences.
