Over Rs. 3 mn from errant traders

Consumers’ Affairs Authority officers of the Kurunegala District Secretariat conducted over 900 raids to nab errant traders who sold outdated food items. Rs. 3.6 million was obtained from fines imposed on them during the six-month period up to June 30.

CAA Assistant Director H.A. Gunaratnead told the Daily News that about 345 officers would be deployed in the future on such raids in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts.
