SriLankan Airlines Company Secretary Dalrene Thirukumar yesterday told the Presidential Commission investigating into alleged frauds at SriLankan Airlines, SriLankan Catering and Mihin Lanka that the Board of Directors of the Airlines was appointed contrary to the State Enterprises Guidelines in 2003.
She said the Public Enterprise Guidelines - 2003 had specifically underlined the importance of appointing experts in the aviation and financial management sector to the SriLankan Airlines Board.
The Company Secretary said the Board of Directors was appointed without following the Public Enterprise Guidelines.
She said the SriLankan Board of Directors in 2013 comprised Nishantha Wickremasinghe, Nihal Jayamanna PC, Kapila Chandrasena, Shashendra Rajapaksa, Manilal Fernando, Lakshmi Kumari Sangakkara and Susantha Chaminda Ratnayake.
