Cabinet approval has been granted to purchase paddy for the Maha season and the paddy will be bought through the Paddy Marketing Board.
Accordingly, Nadu will be purchased at Rs.38 per kilo. Samba and Keeri Samba will be bought at Rs. 41 per kilo. The District Secretaries have been instructed to facilitate the process. Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Rural Economy Minister P. Harrison had forwarded the Cabinet paper for approval, Kurunegala District Paddy Farmers’ Association Chairman S.M. Premaratne said.
