A group of about 18 Ministers and Muslim MPs left Parliament to Kandy by helicopter yesterday evening to observe the situation in the area, while the Adjournment Debate on the current situation in the country was in progress.
A Sri Lanka Air Force helicopter landed at Parliament premises at around 4.30 pm to take the ministers and MPs.
The group included Ministers Lakshman Kiriella, Faizer Mustapha, Rauf Hakeem, S.B.Dissanayake and a group of Muslim MPs.
They returned to Parliament in the same helicopter at around 6.20 pm. Parliament sources said they were to attend a special meeting in Kandy and visit affected areas in Kandy and Pallekele.
