The Education Ministry is to commence interviews to recruit teacher-trainees for the National Colleges of Education from March 12.
Accordingly, 4,745 applicants are to be enrolled for 27 teacher-training courses at 19 National Colleges of Education countrywide. The qualified candidates would be recruited on the district basis and the applicants have to undergo three-year residential teacher training courses at the National Colleges of Education.
About 1,200 lecturers will be deployed at Teachers’ Training Colleges and National Colleges of Education to meet the shortage of lecturers for teaching certain compulsory subjects, Senior Director of Education W.M. Balasooriya said at a meeting of school heads of the Kurunegala District held on March 2 in the Bingiriya Youth Training Centre, Kurunegala.
