President to make radical changes in SLFP

President Maithripala Sirisena said he would make a noticeable change soon in relation to the political arena of the country. The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will also be subjected to a radical change with immediate effect.

The President said so at the SLFP Parliamentarians Committee meeting held yesterday at the President’s residence to evaluate the results of the local government election.

Minister S.B. Dissanayake told the Daily News that SLFP Parliamentary committee members have made various suggestions at the committee meeting but a final decision is yet to be taken.

However, the President stressed that he would make a noticeable change promptly with a view to meet the people’s aspirations.

When asked what that decision is, Minister Dissanayake said that it is up to the President. The SLFP will hold discussions with other parties that represent the government prior to taking that decision.

The Minister further said that President Sirisena will take several tough actions soon to reclaim the past glory of the party.
