Fingerprint out: J’pura nurses clock in again

The strike action staged by nurses attached to the Sri Jayawardhanapura Hospital for the last ten days has been suspended.

This is following discussions between hospital authorities and trade unions yesterday (12).

The strike was launched against the biometric fingerprint system introduced to record hospital employees’ timings for attendance and overtime calculations.

A token strike was launched by the nurses at the National Hospital and the Eye Hospital in support of the protest until yesterday.

However, Government Services United Nurses Union Chairman Ven.Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera said drastic measures will be taken by unions after discussions, if a satisfactory solution is not provided by the governing body.
