Former LTTE media Spokesman and current Media Director of Dan TV, Velayutham Thayanithi also known as Daya Master was attacked by an individual around 3.55 on Monday afternoon at Hospital Street, Jaffna.
The Jaffna Police have commenced an investigation based on a complaint lodged regarding the attack.
Upon investigations, the Jaffna Police had apprehended Moses Sathgunadas (53), a resident of Jaffna, Police Media Spokesman, SP Ruwan Gunasekara said. The suspect was produced before the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
The motive for the attack has not been established. According to reliable sources in Jaffna, several cable TV operators are currently at loggerheads in an attempt to dominate the cable TV sector in the region.
