Navy nabs eight Indian fishermen for poaching

Naval personnel onboard Fast Attack Craft attached to the Northern Naval Command on routine patrol apprehended eight Indian fishermen and seized two fishing trawlers used for poaching in the Sri Lankan territorial waters of Kachchatheevu and west of the Delft island on Saturday. The fishermen were brought to the naval base SLNS Uttara in Kankesanthurai and handed over to the Jaffna Assistant Fisheries Director.

The trawlers and fishing gear were retained at SLNS Elara in Karainagar, the Navy media unit said..
