ITN Staff members repair condemned vehicles

A large number of vehicles owned by the Independent Television Network (ITN) which were condemned and deemed unusable have been repaired and made road worthy by ITN staff members.

According to ITN staff members, they were able to repair a lorry with a Rs.500,000 restoration estimation value for only a sum of Rs.90,000. It was also reported that a bus which was deemd unroadworthy was repaired for Rs.21,000. Similarly, repairs of a car which was estimated to cost Rs. 300,000 was repaired for only Rs. 65,000.

This project was launched under the guidance of ITN Chairman Saman Athawuda and was handled by Chief Executive Officer Chandana Thilakaratne.

There were about 30 vehicles in similar condition and the ITN staff had been able to repair 13 of them saving Rs.100 million.
