With the Supreme Court Judgment that disqualified Geetha Kumarasinghe from holding a Parliamentary seat, she would have to return the salaries and allowances she obtained in the last two years,legal experts said. The Supreme Court on Thursday, ruled that UPFA Galle District MP Geetha Kumarasinghe is not qualified to hold a Parliamentary seat because she is a dual citizen of Sri Lanka and Switzerland.
As per the court verdict, the legal experts said former MP Kumarasinghe will have to return her salaries, together with other allowances such as the office and telephone allowances paid to her since August 2015. The total sum will run into millions of rupees.
The Attorney General’s Department will take measures to get the due amount back to the Government from her.
